You have checked the historic train schedule and chosen the perfect trip: now it is time to buy your ticket.
Nothing could be easier, you can purchase your ticket in five different ways: at the ticket office or using the automatic ticket machine in the train stations; online on Trenitalia website, through the app or via licensed travel agencies in Italy and abroad.
Read the instructions below: expanding the section you are interested in, you will find clear and accurate information.
Ask the ticket seller a ticket for historic trains, specifying the exact date of the journey and the departure and destination train stations and provide any other information you will be asked for, e.g. if you travel with children.
In order to make your purchase easy and quick, be careful to explain you want to participate to an historic train journey, organised by Fondazione FS and, also, that the train will run only on the exact date you said: our schedule does not have daily frequency.
In every main station and in some shopping centres you can buy your ticket using the automatic ticket machines.
The procedure it is easy: insert the information required, that are railway line, date, departure and destination stations.
You can pay both in cash and by credit card.

Search your journey
On the homepage you can see the purchase box to fill in with the required information
− indicate whether you want to make only a one-way journey or a return journey
− select the departure and destination stations
− select the dates
− select the number of passengers: children under 4 years old travel for free (accompanied and with no seat guaranteed); children from 4 to 12 years old are entitled to a reduced ticket
− click on “Search” to start the search
2. Select the trip
− select the offer with the notice “Treno storico”
− choose (if possible) the coach’s class
− click on the “Continue” button to proceed
3. Select the return trip
If you have flagged the box “Return” you also need to select the return trip
4. Enter the travel data and select the payment method
- if you are already registered select “Log in”, enter username and password to log in
- if not, continue without logging in and fill in the data required
- enter name, surname, e-mail and a telephone contact number (optional)
- proceed with payment by selecting the method of payment you prefer: you can choose between credit/debit card, PayPal, Amazon Pay, Masterpass and Tranasfer online
- accept the general transportation conditions and the privacy policy
- click on the “Continue” button to purchase the ticket
