How to get here

WARNING: from July 4 and until September 1, 2024, due to extraordinary maintenance works, train circulation is suspended between Napoli S. Giovanni - Barra and Torre Annunziata C.le and between Torre Annunziata C.le and Castellammare di Stabia. To reach the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa there is a replacement bus service departing from Napoli S. Giovanni-Barra station.

To get to the Museum it is possible to take a train on Line 2 of the Naples Metropolitan service from Napoli piazza Garibaldi station, stopping at Napoli S. Giovanni - Barra. Replacement buses are departing immediately outside the station, from Piazzetta San Giovanni Battista, and they stop near Traversa Pietrarsa, a few meters from the museum.

By train

By far the easiest way to get to the museum is by train. You can get here on a regular Trenitalia train or on one of our heritage trains: you’ll be experiencing the world of train travel from the off and the environment will thank you for it.

Local and regional trains on the Naples-Salerno line stop at Pietrarsa-San Giorgio a Cremano Station.
The heritage train “the Pietrarsa Express” arrives directly from Naples Central Station to Pietrasa.

By car

It easy to get here by car too.
Pietrarsa Parking offers secure parking and special rates for all museum visitors and is situated just 30m from the Museum entrance.

The best route to take is the A3 Naples-Salerno Motorway:

Driving from Rome:
Take the “Napoli Centro Via Marittima direzione Portici” exit from the A1 motorway heading to the A3 and then take the “S. Giorgio a Cremano” exit.

Driving from Salerno:
Take the “Ercolano - Bellavista” or “S. Giorgio a Cremano exits heading to Naples.

Pietrarsa is fully accessible to all visitors with mobility problems. Please contact us ahead of your visit on 081.472003 (select options 1 or 2) so we can welcome you via  the step free entrance.
