Pistoia

Royal room - Pistoia

Located on the historic Porrettana Railway, the Pistoia station has played a strategic role since the inauguration of the line. Here, in fact, the traction change took place, necessary to tackle the difficult ascents towards Porretta Terme. For this reason, a dedicated space was created to welcome members of the royal family while waiting for the train preparation. King Vittorio Emanuele II himself frequently used the room, as he enjoyed spending restorative periods at the thermal baths.

Even today, the national walnut wood paneling is present, with a fine inlay of the Savoy coat of arms in the central panel, made in the early 1900s by a workshop in Siena.

On the sides, there are two sofas with leather seating and the same national walnut frame, while at the center of the opposite wall, a marble fireplace stands out, which was used to heat the room.
