Sala Mazzoni – Messina Centrale
Between
1934 and
1937,
Angiolo Mazzoni drafted the final project for the new railway facilities in
Messina. In
August 1937, work began, proceeding at a good pace. The new passenger building was constructed with a low body in travertine, enhanced by a futuristic canopy. Among the interior spaces, there is a waiting room dedicated to distinguished travelers, now called the "
Sala Mazzoni." This room, covering over 80 square meters, is characterized by ten seats covered in wood, arranged on a marble floor. In the center of the room, there is a long table, also made of marble, with sinuous and rounded shapes.
