Waiting Room – Livorno Centrale
The current
Livorno Centrale station is the result of long design processes and modifications during construction. The large
Liberty-style arch and the central frieze that characterize the façade of the passenger building on
Piazza Dante are the work of architect
Carlo Frullani, who was called upon by the examining commission to revise the original design. On
July 3, 1910, the new building was inaugurated in the presence of
King Vittorio Emanuele, highlighting the importance of the railway junction and the prestige of the architecture. Three distinct waiting rooms were planned: the first-class room is characterized by the fine stucco decorations on the sides and ceiling, the refined
wall sconces, and the marble flooring and wainscoting, interrupted by tall glass doors that provide significant natural lighting.
