Along the Via Francigena of the South

The Rome - Cassino itinerary takes travellers into southern Lazio, along one of the most significant stretches of the Via Francigena of the South. Departing from Rome Tiburtina, the train reaches Cassino, a gateway to the historic pilgrimage route and a region where history, spirituality and landscape come together.

This journey offers a different way to discover Italy’s cultural heritage, following paths travelled for centuries by pilgrims and travellers. Cassino serves as the starting point for exploring the route and the area surrounding Montecassino, a symbolic site of the Benedictine tradition and an internationally renowned historical and spiritual landmark.

Here, the railway journey is more than just transportation. It marks the beginning of a day devoted to discovering the territory, its rich heritage and the slow, authentic rhythm of walking through places shaped by centuries of history.
